katiew7103
Hi there I am relatively new to this forum and i have a couple of questions if someone out there could help. Are there any activity things I could put in my run as I am afraid my chooks might be bored. I have perches, bushes, a tree in their run but i wondered about other things. Have thought about hanging a cabbage up etc, any other ideas? Also is it alright to feed my chooks a little miostened bread, they love it ( as well as there pellets of course) they are really greedy and seem to love most things but I just wondered if it was a good idea or not. Thanks
Lewis
I give mine wet bread and haven't had any problems. What about hanging up a couple of CD's and corn on the cobs
Olly
bread is ok if it's moistened with water or oil, but don't give dry bread as it can swell up inside their crops and cause problems. A little bread is ok but I wouldn't feed too much, as it is very filling and will stop them eating their pellets without giving them much value. It sounds as if they have quite a bit of entertainment in their run, anyway! You can hang a cabbage up but it goes really quickly. I have one of those square mesh bird-feeders, intended for suet blocks for wild birds - if you stuff this with vegetable peelings, cabbage or other treats and hang it up, they can peck at it and it keeps them busy.
