4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

so far introductions have been going great, and last night before sunset, we herded all 4 of them into the run, and shut the door. Angua, Pennyapple, and Pecan hung around by the door wanting to go and patiently sit by the shed till we came out to put them in the pet carrier.

 

And poach eventually took herself off to bed in her Eglu... EVENTUALLY the other girls got the hint and followed her in, and as far as we know, there was no bother. Other than poach has been VERY moany and bwarky today.

 

However, tonight we lost track of time and realised we hadn't shut them in the run and its nearly dark, so we thought we'd see if they'd used their initiative and gone to the Eglu again.

 

Well Pecan had, and Poach was indeed sat on top of her in the nesting box.

 

However poor little Angua and Miss Pennyapple, were huddled together unde the polythene table cover trying to snooze (and I know this because they didnt move when I leant down to pick them up)

 

bless them, they would have stayed there all night! and poor angua was so soggy on her belly cus she's so close to the ground all the time and today we've had torrential rain!

 

so we picked them up and popped them both in the Eglu, and as we went inside, Poach came out and grumbled a bit to protest, but she's going to have to get used to sharing.

 

And tomorrow, we'll just have to make sure we keep an eye on the fading daylight and lock them in the Run, so they follow Poachy to bed and dont go and sit by the shed and wait for us to bring out the pet carrier, which is now in the spare room instead of the shed, to try and encourage out of sight out of mind approach.

oh bless their little cotton socks! Our babies did something similar this week-end.. it was decided that at 20 weeks old it was hig htime they got used to roosting bars (up till then they'd been snuggled up in shredded paper)... Came out after dark to do a final chook check and there they all were, trying to go to sleep under the super glug and getting suitably soaked in the process! So, we picked them all up and put them into the carrier, and out they came again bokking in annoyance at us

 

Lef them to it in the end - by morning all four had got used to the bars and were happily snoozing away *awwwww!*

Oh dear... our Miss pepperpot, Pepper, used to love perched on the glugs and filing them with ... dearest OH used soem acrlyic from B and Q to make a cover for the glugs... attached to the mesh of the wir with the wonderful and eternally useful cable ties

 

Works a treat!
