Naughty Duck - personality change

Recommended Posts

Since loosing Louis over a week ago now, Harry's temperament seems to have changed. When he's out foraging & splashing he's fine, but when confined to his run he does nothing but quack - I guess he's lonely :(

Now he won't go to bed either. I know ducks are notorious for this but my two were always so good, they took themselves in at dusk & i just had to shut the door. Now, he's still out quacking at all hours until I manage to chase him into the house, & even then we still hear him quacking occasionally.

I need to think about getting him some company I guess, but difficult as I'm still not convinced if he's a 'he' or a 'she'!

If 'she' is quacking - a proper 'quack-quack' - then it is probably a girl.........and she may not have strated laying but shouldn't be far off. Ducks seem a bit later than hens in starting to lay and this time of year may delay it slightly as well.

If there is no sign of curly tail feathers then you could take a bet on it being a duck and find another girl as company?

If you want to be sure than it should only be a matter of weeks before you know.

Get your duck a friend perhaps try to find a female(the rescue centres do have ducks sometimes I know our Wood green animal shelter does have ducks for rehoming females too)

What a shame lots of treats needed
