beckyfitz
Since loosing Louis over a week ago now, Harry's temperament seems to have changed. When he's out foraging & splashing he's fine, but when confined to his run he does nothing but quack - I guess he's lonely Now he won't go to bed either. I know ducks are notorious for this but my two were always so good, they took themselves in at dusk & i just had to shut the door. Now, he's still out quacking at all hours until I manage to chase him into the house, & even then we still hear him quacking occasionally. I need to think about getting him some company I guess, but difficult as I'm still not convinced if he's a 'he' or a 'she'!
Lewis
He probably is lonely - is there any chance you could him some company? I'd have thought if he was a girl she'd be laying by now if they hatched in May?
Lesley
If 'she' is quacking - a proper 'quack-quack' - then it is probably a girl.........and she may not have strated laying but shouldn't be far off. Ducks seem a bit later than hens in starting to lay and this time of year may delay it slightly as well. If there is no sign of curly tail feathers then you could take a bet on it being a duck and find another girl as company? If you want to be sure than it should only be a matter of weeks before you know.
miller30
Hi i would say harry is harriet because you cant really hear the noise of a drake that loud and you wouldnt hear it from inside a house leanne.
beckyfitz
Yes, everything points to 'him' being a 'her' apart from not laying - Louis had been laying for about 3 weeks & they were hatched from the same clutch. Definitely no curly tail feather & very noisy - neighbours say it sounds like its laughing!
