Dawn-Dave
I have just bought a Halogen Oven.............and I must say it is fantastic (wonderful for SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder) cooked a joint of Pork in only 70mins with the best crackling ever with lovely roasties, and jacket potatoes are great too nice and crispy skins in only 30 mins. The only other thing I have cooked in it is a whole chicken in less than an hour. This is what I bought and it's the best £49.99 i've spent in a long time. http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/P~147411~Prolectrix+12L+Halogen+Oven I was wondering if anyone else has one of these and if so do you have any good recipes. Lesley
Well, they're out of stock already so you aren't the only one to like it!! I hadn't even heard of halogen ovens!
Olly
Well I was going to say I'd never heard of them either, until I clicked on the link and recognised it as something my former neighbour had. She used to cook lots of stuff in it - roast potatoes, chips, chicken - and swore by it as being both cheap to run and very healthy. If you Google it, you'll find there's a discussion on Moneysavingexpert.com about them. Looks interesting! edited to add: Article in the Daily Mail here! Lewis
They're always on the shopping channels with table tennis balls in and the balls spin round because of the air circulation. I think they look like the ideal student oven because they're really small and meant to be easy to use

sunshinesupernova
well - mine is now in use. We happened to do roast pork in ours the first night and roast potatoes. Baked potatoes last night and also rice pudding. The rice pudding took as long as a conventional oven with foil on the dish. That said, I had it on a very low temerature setting like I would in th main oven. No idea why it took so long - perhaps because I covered the dish with foil. Need to play a bit more before I work that one out....
