Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Where dis you get your chooks from? Also, where do you get your chickeny 'stuff' (bedding, food etc)?

I got 3 of mine from Leicester (Merrydale), 2 from a guy in Nantwich and then 4 ex bats from Hen Rehomers. I get most of my food and bedding etc locally, either from Chelford Farm supplies or a local pet shop here in Macclesfield.

We got 5 of ours ( 2 separate occasions) from Garden Poultry, Frodsham, 6 ex batts ( 2 separate occasions) from BHWT in Haslingden and 2 from Happy Chicks in Preesall nr Fleetwood.

 

We get our supplies from a Animal Feed supplier in Burtonwood.

2 hybrids from garden poultry in frodsham, 7 ex batts all came from BHWT haslingden and 2 bantams from a forum member who breeds chickens in warrington (although she hasn't posted for ages).

Some of mine came from Omlet, some from Garden Poultry, some from Wernlas, some ex batts from BHWT in Haslingden, some from a breeder whose details I found in the back of Practical Poultry magazine and some from Chelford Market Rare Breed sales.

I get most of my supplies from Estate Supplies in Ashley.

trouble is they have everything there we need and more! We only have to make 1 trip every so often. we've also got a loyalty card and for every £50 spent we get a fiver back. We get mash, aubiose, garlic powder, grit, corn, mealworms, egg boxes (12p each, now they ARE a bargain LOL), seed sticks and any powders or potions the girls need too and we can get all the dog's stuff there too so it saves a lot of messing around.

 

The only thing they didn't have once was stalosan F but the bag we ordered on the net is lasting an eternity!

Gibsons is a great store, we use them too. I drop Anna off at school in Hartford and then cut across to Frodsham to Gibsons for a mooch around...love it there!

my hubbie used to work in (or near) stretton! The MFI distribution centre, til they went bust that is.

I have got chicken bits from Sevenoaks Saddlery between Warrington and Northwich; they don't always have what I want in but they ordered ex-batt food for me last time when I called ahead to make sure.

 

Estate Supplies near Hale has a lot but are expensive IMHO.

 

And Pets@Home have pellets now (Baguley one near Tescos).

 

But I do get a lot of stuff on-line too.....

Cathy they are opening one in Urmston at new retail park near the Trafford Centre next weekend - Iam hoping they will stock chickeny stuff too. How much do you pay for pellets at Pets at Home?

I didn't actually buy any as they didn't have the ex-batt food in stock and as my girls are getting on I am treating them to the ex-batt pellets which are nice and small - they said they would order ex-batt food if I wanted, they do have the small bags on line.

 

The pellets they did have were on offer if you bought two, not 100% sure how much they were, I think it was in the region of £9 each or £16 for two, I remember thinking I would have got some if I wasn't being soft and giving them the ex-battery hen feed....
