Solitary chicken - need advice

We are soon to buy an Eglu classic and we are thinking 3 hens. Poss 1 ex-batt and 2 others (not sure if we are allowed only one?). Anyway, seems to be a general shortage of suppliers in our Leeds area when trawling the internet.

 

Any recommendations for breeds welcome too. We are looking for good lay-ers and good family pets.

 

Any help would be hugely welcome!

I got my 3 from Storrs Poultry a year ago. They are lovely girls and have laid approx 290 eggs each in the last 11 months. They have become very much loved pets.

 

There is also Raw Green Cottages. Jody will sends a newletter with the breeds she has available, just give her a ring 07502 009103 to find out what POL she has left.

Ditto to the above. I've had hens from both these suppliers.

I got my girls from Jody at Raw Green Cottages - she was really good with us (all the silly questions we asked etc).

 

And my girls were lovely and healthy (and still are ).

 

And EK Chooks, if you find any suppliers of chooky stuff let us know - I can't seem to find a one stop shop around here - I have to go to different places for different things or order on line and get killed by p&p due to the weights involved.
