Chicken Shirl
Not sure if I should be on the "Nesting box" for this. Just a question really. Has anyone ever had a sculpture in bronze done of one of their hens If so, who did you use?..... We have been on the web and taken a few names, but a recommendation would be great. Our cockerel is getting older..... now into his 6th year, and we just adore him, and would like to have him with us forever so to speak. We can't be the only ones to have ever wanted this, so any reccomendations would be gratefully received. xx

skye
Crikey he's gorgeous! THE quintessential textbook cockerel! No wonder you're proud to have him Chicken Shirl. I remember my mum having my first shoe set in bronze (somewhat different!) and I think they had it done somewhere in Canada. Not much help eh?! Lovely idea though. skye x

Chicken Shirl
That was so kind of you House MD. Thank you so much for going to all that trouble on our behalf. Bronze Masters looks interesting.... My sister has a bronze hare by Theodore Gillick, but I think the cost would be out of the question. You never know though. I was hoping that we would be recommended to some one, but so far no joy. I will wait a few days more and then start contacting a few artists that we have found on the web. Hopefully there is no rush as the boy is in fine health, and we do have some splendid photo's of him, quite a gallery in fact. Thank you once again, I am overwhelmed by your interest and kindness. We will keep you posted on who we choose. Shirley. xx

Guest
it's your choice of course but i always find bronze sculptures good for capturing movement and fluidity but for something as colourful as your boy, wouldn't a beautiful professional photo or painting do him more justice? Or what about commissioning a piece in wood or clay so that his fine plumage could be seen in its full glory? Just throwing some ideas into the pot
Chicken Shirl
Thank you Poet. Yes we are also throwing ideas around, and were only saying today that a painting would be just as good to have. Your right of couse about the colours, an oil painting would be great, but who do you choose to do it I suppose going to country fairs and shows would turn up someone good. Its just nice to see an example of someones work, before you lash out loads of money. xx
