chickenNutter
It has finally happened! After 34 weeks and 1 day - my first ever egg! It is very tiny, so I suspect it came from the bottom of one of my two bantams. The two suspects.... Mabel, my Frizzle or Hetty my Pekin (I think she's a Pekin?) I am so excited, I have phoned or e-mailed everyone I know. I am a very happy Chickenmummy.

The Dogmother
Wonderful news. That Hetty is no Pekin though.. I'd have to see a clearer pic to get an idea of what she is...
Guest
Brilliant - how will you have it?
chickenNutter
Boiled, tomorrow morning. Hope it is a double yoker! Jolly clever to do a proper egg first off, I thought, I was expecting a jelly egg some time next spring! I'm not sure Hetty is a Pekin either, but I am a beginner. I will try to get a better photo this weekend when it is light, and we can have a straw poll.
Fur 'n' Feathers
Is that a "demon cat" we see in the photo, eyeing up dinner? Congratulations by the way!
chickenNutter
Is that a "demon cat" we see in the photo, eyeing up dinner? Congratulations by the way! That's Fat Stan - everything is dinner to him, he breaks into the ginuea pig hutch and eats their food, has eaten my daughter's plasticine, and on one fateful day, broke into the shopping bags and ate two Tunnocks Caramel wafers and then stole a visiting workman's Pepperami. He was an obese kitten at 6 weeks, and is the original couch potato. I used to have him on diet food from the vets, but have given up now as he never lost any weight anyway. I must learn how to do the red eye thing on photoshop though! It does make him look evil. Sadly he is too stupid to be evil, apparently it goes with the medical condition that causes him to be overwight. He is fat but happy though, Bless! docsquid
Fantastic news about the egg! It's really exciting. I'm still excited every time I empty the nest box, remembering the first egg!
wiganchooks
Yay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freeloaders no more. I hope it's yummy and that they keep it up. See you Friday, P.S. Yes, I am still away facilitating that course, but I've had enough of their company for 1 day so sneaked off to bed and errr, ended up on here... I'm missing the chickens! OH is complaining that it's cold and took him an hour to clean them out this morning P.P.S. I like the door mat!
Egluntyne
......I suspect it came from the bottom of one of my two bantams........ I think you might be right there!
chickenNutter
yes it is definitely Hetty the non-Pekin. She laid another today and was still sitting on it when I looked in the eglu before I let the girls out. It was still warm. Aaaaah!
