Emz24
If you guys are going away for a couple of nights, what do you do with your chickies. Do you leave the eglu door open or do you get a friend to come and open it in the morning and then come and shut it in the evening?!?! What would you suggest? BeckyBoo
If it's overnight or even two nights I top up water and food making sure there's enough obviously for the time, then I leave the door open and that's it. More than two nights I get someone to come in and make sure they've got enough water - food isn't normally such an issue for a couple of nights. They should be fine - mine always have been! Emz24
For us the food isn't the worry, we will just fill that up to the top. Its Mr Fox thats the worry, for he has a popular walk through our garden and we caught him up by the eglu the other day, we chased him off and haven't seen him yet... Egluntyne
I do the same as Beckyboo. No problems so far.
Christian
I do it a couple of nights a week, as away with work and they are fine. Just make sure they have plenty of food and water
Ain't Nobody Here
Perhaps you could weight down the skirt of the run (if you haven't already!) just to give you more piece of mind about the fox? Bricks or planks of wood would work.
mabelandflosmum
I have left mine in their eglu for 2 nights on several occasions. I leave the door to their bedroom open. The only problem is if it gets so cold that their water freezes, I usually check the weather forecast and would ask someone look in if there was a frost. Emz24
Yeah we bought some tent peggs today and secured the edge of the run all the way around the outside, which will hopefully be useful. our friends down the road have chickens and we help look after theirs whilst they are away, so might ask them to pop in at some point just to collect eggs (and maybe muck out... )
