Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Hi all,

 

My 2nd Hand Incubator arrived today & i have a couple of questions.

 

 

It's been used 8 times in 12 months,and by the looks of it, it's never been cleaned out,what's the best thing to use to clean it out?

 

It has an automatic turner ( ) do i put the eggs in it pointy end down or pointy end up?

 

And There's a Water chamber at the bottom with wire over the top,how do i refill it with the turner connected and what do i do with the wire when it's time for the chicks to hatch? do i just put some paper towel over the top?

You cna buy proper incubator disinfectant, which is probably a good idea

 

Our (chicken) eggs were on their sides, but the quail eggs were in a tray and pointy end up.

 

Get a small funnel to fill up the water, or you could get a pipe coming up out of the tray(with a funnel on the end).

I put non-slip mat down in the bottom of the incy, you can get it from the £ shop.
