We have a flock of about 20 parakeets which come to the garden to feed. They are very beautiful, but even better, they are quite noisy and negate any noise the chickens make.

Very pretty birds but they are getting the blame for ousting native species particularly the Kestrel and Tawny owl.

I'd hate to live near one of their roosts where they number in their thousands

I went back recently and where you used to hear the call of little birds they are drowned out by the parakeets' raucous screeching.

our garden is always full of them they are beautiful but incredibly noisy but as you say they cover up any chicken noise

There was a flock nesting in the garden of my folks' neighbours, it was released by a local enthusiast. I understand that the council came out and dismantled the nesting platform as they are classed as vermin... not sure abotu that classification myself

 

They certainly caused a tremendous racket.

We have them here too. They roost in the woods near here. They are lovely but sometimes the noise is too much.

We have them here too. They fly over our house morning and evening and eat the peanuts on our bird feeders.

I'd recommend not looking up as they fly over. We were eating outside one evening and I narrowly missed getting pooped in the face, it got me on the shoulder instead!
