dippy bird
Hi All, I was wondering if I would be ok to put all 9 girls in one coop tonight to keep them extra warm as the weatherman has said that it's going to drop really cold.At the moment 2 of the ex bats have decided that they have moved in with the other 5 girls in the smaller coop, which is leaving 2 bats in the big coop .I thought that I might shut the door of the smaller one so that none of the girls could get in and that they could all go in the big coop(Loads of room for them) so that they all snuggle up together. Would this be ok or would it upset any of them? They all get along really well so I'm not worried about fighting.
Guest
they shouldn't squabble once it gets dark but how big is your coop? If you think it's big enough I'd pop the 2 ex batts in once all the others have gone to bed and have already settled themselves down for the night, that way there shouldn't be any argy bargy
Carol U
I'm sure they'll be fine all in together. I recently did the same for mine - shut the door of the house my new additions are in so they had to go in with the others - and they were fine. I opened the door of the other house again after a couple of days, but they have chosen to continue sleeping all together. I think they like to be all cuddled up this weather. chick wiggle
I have 11 girls all sharing a cube, their choice. They should be fine and a lot warmer, just pop them in after they've all gone to bed. I would just make sure your up early in the morning to let them out and make sure they're fine. dippy bird
well guess what, 8 out of 9 decided to squeeze into the smaller coop! That left 1 in the big coop,so my OH put her in the other coop as well.I will be up really early to let them out,as it really isn't big enough for all of them, but at least they will be extra warm tonight.I will definately shut the door of the smaller coop tomorrow though so they don't have to sit on each others heads tomorrow night. dippy bird
I know.I do worry about the ex bats. They are all feathering up really well now, even little Mavis who was quite thread bare when we got her in October. Think I should be more worried about Judy who has just decided to moult. She bent over in front of me the other day and she has a completely bald bum.
