JB09
My girls have came off of a course of Baytril last Monday. Does anyone know when I will be able to start eating their eggs again? Even when they were ill they were laying everyday - was such a shame having to throw them away. The eggs that is JB
Saronne
Hi, My girls were on Baytril in the autumn. I threw away their eggs during the treatment and did not sell any for a couple of weeks afterwards. The company that produces Baytril told our vet's practice not to use the eggs for 6 weeks! I think they were erring on the side of caution as Baytril isn't licensed for use in poultry and they don't want litigation, etc. if anyone was to become ill. I must confess that we used the eggs ourselves one week after the end of treatment - with no ill effects - but if you, or any of your family is pregnant, or anyone is allergic to antibiotics, or you are thinking of selling the eggs, then leave it for longer than I did just to be on the safe side. Sal119
We were told 6 weeks as well, but we probably ate them after about 5. The vet made my husband sign a disclaimer to say we wouldn't put the eggs in the food chain. I know what you mean about throwing the lovely eggs away .....
