Chillicat
Poachy flew....or attempted to fly...across the pond this morning and crash landed in it breaking the thin ice She managed to get herself out and squalked off sharpish, hidding under the red robin tree preening herself, then it started to snow I checked on her throughout the day and she seemed to be ok doing her usual stuff but it was so bitter cold all day and she has such a fluffy bottom I'm worried that she'll catch a terrible cold. Can you believe she wouldn't let me catch her to towel dry her off Do you think she'll be alright?
chick wiggle
Was she fit and well before? If so, Im sure she'll be fine Watch her tomorro and maybe give her some poultry spice / lifeguard or other pick-me-up. But, yep, stoopid chickens
Chillicat
Yes, she is my big bird! Fit as a fiddle but lays the smallest eggs Have done the PS (on top of warm rice for supper) Her feathers are so soft, silky and thick but it was her underbelly that got wet and hopefully she'll be ok. Plum
Bless her, daft bird. Once she is away for the night her body heat should help dry the feathers. If she's still damp in the morning I would try and trap her, perhaps in the coop and bring her in and blow dry her. You may need shakkles. I would pop her in a crate or cat box and dry her from outside it if she won't be handled. Good luck hopefully she'll have dried by morning.
