docsquid
well, whichever way you look at it, people have been manipulated into buying one or the other of the records. Either way, you've been duped. Well, yes. Except I didn't buy either, because I don't like either. I DO like Joe, who has a beautiful singing voice, but the song was poor, so I wouldn't buy it. I will buy any song that I like, including ones by X-Factor winners, provided it is a good song, and well sung. The RATM offering is terrible. It is not rock music (and I like a lot of rock bands including quite a lot of HM bands). It is a poor "song", very badly played by a group of people who are not in any sense of the word musicians, but simply like to make a lot of discordant noise, shout and swear. I'm glad the money was given to Shelter, but I do not think an aggressive song full of swear words, that is full of hate, should be number one at Christmas, a time of peace and love. I find it very offensive.

Charlottechicken
I didn't make a purchase either, takes a lot more than that to move me to part with my hard earned cash

I think you've just described exactly why I like it! To each his own and that. It brings back many a fond memory for me of the sweaty basement of the Casbah trying very hard not to look like I was cowering in the corner when the inevitable fight kicked off!
