Janepie33
DD needs a new lap top for college and uni next year. She has her eye on a Green all singing all dancing Dell Inspiron at vast expense. My questions are :- Does anyone use this lap top and how is it? Do you think the cost of lap tops is likely to go down or up after Christmas?
The Dogmother
Dell are pretty good and reliable, you'll get cheaper, but not necessarily as good. Prices are goig down all the time, but they don't usually do sales.
Cooks
I bought one recently and took a lot of advice, I liked the Dells too but in my price range I chose a Toshiba with Dual Core as I was advised it was better to have Dual Core if possible. I have to say it is a minefield out there though, I was really lost with it all, but got a very nice laptop with a lot of memory and hardrive so I was happy with my choice. (it isn't a nice bright colour though )
chickric
I was looking for one this time last year and ended up getting a HP one from Dabs.com. I think the best way is to decide what spec you want (not easy I know with all the different options around) then spend hours searching the internet for the best price . I have to say that HP customer service was brilliant when I had a corrupted hard drive. Dabs were also very good with price and delivery. Good luck
debbier
If you want a Dell then have a look at this site: http://www.dmxdimension.com/ They neatly summarise any special offers, and codes you can use. The actual Dell site doesn't always make it clear which offers are available without some searching. I recently bought a Studio laptop, and got around £300 off the list price, and also used the 5% off code as advertised on the above site, and it worked a treat. It depends what spec you need, of course, as to what to look at.
laurmurf
We got ED a Dell Studio 1555 in purple to take to university - she loves it and as it's Dell we're confident it's well made. We got upgrades on RAM and a good discount too.
