Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

Just went out to check on my girls (had same 2 Gingernut Rangers since October) in the Eglu run as they seemed to be unusually squatting in their woodchip. Within the past 15 minutes they've lost loads of feathers from their chests as though they've been pecking each other. I did not see them fighting but we had just given them a brussel sprout each in the run, which they are mad for, and sometimes have a quick squabble over before tucking in.

 

Anyone else experienced this. Do you think they need to be separated.

 

Was a bit shocked at the state of them.

I dont have a solution to your problem but i to have had a chicken losing feathers - my frizzle poland of abou 14 weeks of age seems to have lost nearly all hi head feathers right on the top and also is looking very red around the beak - im getting quit worried - he is the most boystress one of the grop and seems to like to have a squawk at the older silkies wh are twice the size nearly! I was wondering if there was a bit of bullying in the coop at night

 

I think it might be the cold weather too

Could it be a moult????

If they are squatting they could be trying to lay and my pepperpot occasionally pulls a feather out of her chest to nest but she's not broody, so could they be broody . Could just be moulting.

My run has been looking as if they've had a pilow fight! They're just moulting, which for some strange, chicken reason, they seem to do when it's coldest! Don't worry about it. It's natural.
