Chicken Dilemma!

Recommended Posts

Hi and Welcome Jemima.

I started with three POL girls in August and got two ex batts in October. I did wonder when doing the intos if I had done the right thing as the ex batts were very agressive towards my other hens but after about a month we had relative harmony and they are now all living happily together. My ex batts have brilliant charecters, they follow me round the garden and are always first to come and see what I am doing. Lola is a bit of an escape artist and will quite happily wander out of the garden and down the road, she does however come to call. Lily is moulting at the moment so isn't laying but Lola gives me about five eggs a week. As said before why not get a two of each. :D

I have ex batts and they're fab and yes, they do die, we had one for only three months or so and she was my favourite and died. but again, totally worth it. she was VERY friendly.

Just be prepared if you get batts that you will find yourself checking food labels all the time to see if the "hidden" eggs are free range or not. once you see what wonderful creatures they are you realise what a brutal system battery farming is and you won't want to have anything to do with it any more. God bless M&S is all I can say.

rant over. sorry all.
