Hi there,

 

We have been out today giving the chook house a thorough clean & checking our chooks.

We've noticed that one of our Frizzles claw nails are really quite long, all of the others seem fine. Having read various threads on this are we ok to trim them, trying to be really really careful not to go near the quick?

 

Whilst all of our girls do free range over the past couple of months there ranging has been limited with the poor weather & she doesn't seem to range & scratch around as much as the

others.

 

Any advise really welcome

If you do trim them, be really careful and make sure that your chook is totally still whilst your clipping them

If we do clip them, do you think we could use a the clippers we use to trim the cats ?

If you're scared of hitting the quick of the nail with clippers you could always try a nail file?

I take my girls to the vets, but i should think that type of strong clipper could be okay. I hope somebody with a little more experiance comes on soon.

Well Ive just found out the hard way today through clipping nails, i won't be doing that again! I used dog nail clippers that i borrowed.

 

If you do try and accidents happen then try flour (didn't work for me) or s"Ooops, word censored!"e their claw down the soap bar to seal the hole.
