Apple bobbing crossed with swingball!

Recommended Posts

I cut an apple in half, de-seeded it (did I need to??? Didn't want trees growing out of their ears ), poked a bit of string through the middle and hung it up in the WIR.

:shh: Can you hear that? TOTAL SILENCE IN MY GARDEN!!!!

It drove them nuts - whenever they managed a quick peck (not very often!), it spun off again and was swinging round in a giant circle with them missing it when it shot past - a bit like me with Swingball!

In the end, I took pity on them (actually, Sophia - who seemed the only one to be getting frustrated! Roxy was trying to figure it out, Tallulah and Ursula were too daft to notice that they hadn't got any!) and lowered it. They had another go and then I broke it off, gave them a quarter each and they legged it in different directions to enjoy the fruits of their labours :D

Then they went straight to bed - I think it wore them out!

Lol - I love chicken swingball. We've done it with corn on the cob too.

One game I don't recommend though........

Stick a bendy green garden cane in the ground and stick a corn on the cob on top. Mrs chicken pecks the sweetcorn but the cane swings back and nearly knocks their heads off.

I tried it once, the game only lasted 2 mins then I took pity on the 'boxing style duck and diving' chickens and removed it from the cane.
