Did anyone else hear the interview on Chris Evans fabby breakfast show today, with Doris (aged 95) who abseils for Charity....she lives in Hayling Island and raises money for the local hospice and has "a gig" coming up on 29th May in Portsmouth.and talked Chris in to do coming along to it on air... apparently she took up abseiling at 85!!! and yes she loves gardening ...and keeps a few chickens because she loves fresh eggs for her breakfast.... - I knew she'd be a Chicken Keeper

I was sat outside school in the car as we were a bit early listening to the interview....put us all to shame.....good old Doris!

I get soooo mad with my FIL who is like Victor Meldrew only without the laughs and thinks life is over. This world need more people like Doris.

 

Actually my own Mum is heading the same way as Doris. We took her tank driving for her 70th birthday, and she is 80 is September, so we need to plan something even better. Unfortunately in the last 10 years she has had 3 joint replacements and dislocated her shoulder, so it needs to be something all-action but not physical as her mobility is not brilliant.

 

Any ideas anyone?

an excellent idea, but the landing can be very bumpy and rough.

 

What about Zorbing http://www.zorbsouth.co.uk/ ? In a huge inflatable ball, and roll down a hill? I'd love to be brave enough to do something like that. Or, Go Ape http://www.goape.co.uk/?

Thanks both. I had thought about hot air balloon, but it is difficult to time it right - the conditions are rarely suitable on the day you want. I don't think she is physically up to either the zorb or go-Ape idea.

 

Good ideas though, keep 'em coming!

Thats true - we got my Dad a balloon trip for his 60th birthday one May - I think he went there 4 times before finally getting aloft in July!!!!!

What about a day on a tall ship...or would that be too passive...you can take as much or as little part in sailing the ship as you want.. various companies do them, we used Red Sky for my Dad's 70th birthday and it went down a treat!!
