Inspiration for walk in runs?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are thinking about building a walk in run for our chooks. We have a cube and want to site the girls somewhere permanently, originally I was thinking of just a permanent fence built around the cube, but now like the idea of a walk in run so if we go away for the weekend they can have safe free roaming and dont have to be confined to their cube run. Space isnt an issue so I would love to see some of you walk in runs for inspiration!! :D

At the moment we aren't even living at home as we are having our house renovated and the girls are in the garden there, so when we do move back in End of March -hopefully  we would like a project to do, and as we will have a new house I would like the girls to have one too!!

I have noticed some photos on here before and would love to see ideas

Thank you

Michelle

I moved you here Michelle :D

A WIR, how exciting! There are lots of photos and suggestions on the WIR thread, it will take ages to read though!

Your girls will love it, I don't feel so guilty now leaving mine when we go away as they have a nice big run to entertain them.

Will you make it yourself or get someone like Tony the WIR man to do it?

Thank you for moving me Chelsea!

We want to build it our selves, we will have lots to do in the garden once we move back into our house, because although the house will be finished the garden is trashed! so good excuse to start again.........hence the new chicken run!

Before we started our renovations my OH used to wimper.."look what the chickens have done to my lawn"

now we have no lawn to speak of, just a builders yard and over where the chickens have been placed and we still have a piece of garden that looked nice.... we have had a mole move in!

This is also my sneaky way of getting more chickens! but dont let on will you :D
