Plum
Poor thing she sounds really ill. I would take her to a vet straight away. She could just be trying to lay a stuck egg but it could be a respiratory infection. In any case she sounds in distress. Noticed your post was this morning, I hope she is improving. Tutti Frutti
Agree with the Very Wise Plum. Laboured breathing, gasping, fluid when she shakes her head, and the egg problem - sounds pretty serious to me. Poor girl. I'd go to the vets asap if you can - may need antibiotics and help to shift the stuck egg. Are her egg shells thin? We're having the same trouble with an ex-barn and have just upped her calcium intake and gone from normal pellets to Ex-Batt branded pellets (she'd been on ex-batt crumb for a couple of months and we've only just started to shift them over to "normal" pellets). And have you wormed her recently? The gasping could be gapeworm - our vet recommended Flubenvet (we'd been using Verm-X which the vet said is more like a preventative). Good luck, fingers crossed here for better news in the morning.
