Reassurance regarding bumperbit needed

Recommended Posts

we had a fox attack in December last year, leaving just one of our ex batts all alone. We adopted 2 more to keep her company and despite all getting on, the original bird has developed a nasty habit of pecking out the little feather stubs on the new pair as soon as they appear. Yesterday much to hey annoyance I fitted her with a bumper bit. However I became very concerned that she could actually eat and drink normally while wearing this as it does seem to protrude beyond the beak somewhat. This morning I have relented and removed it. Please reassure me that these medieval looking objects are humane. I know I must stop the pecking but felt so sorry for her with the bumper bit on!
