Hi there, Im new to this this forum and Ive ordered my eglu and 4 chickens which is arriving next month, very excited!!! Im in the process of building a walk-in run and I need to order my chicken wire, what size holes should I go for (gauge?)Im guessing the smaller the better??, also does anyone have any tips for the best places to buy from? Any suggestions will be muchly appreciated, thank you!!

We finished our run a couple of weeks ago (theres a thread on here somewhere!!) we used 1inch square, 16 gauge and bought it on line from 'hills of devon'.

 

It did the job nicely and looks great

We used 1 x 1/2'' on ours

You will need weldmesh rather than chicken wire. The latter is only good for keeping chooks off your veggies; it won't stop a fox or rat.

 

Good quality weldmesh (Hills of Devon are good and cheap) will do the job.
