Dolly
The girls are on their 'treat free' week while they are being wormed with Flubenvet in their pellets but I was wondering if letting them free range at the moment was a good idea, as they inevitably spend all their time foraging in the garden. Do you think it's worth extending the treated pellets for a few extra days or should I just shut them in for the week with no FR? Thanks for your help
Old Speckled Hen
Mine FR all the time and I give them their grape/flubenvet treatment without restricting them or extending the course but I guess if you are dosing the food they may eat less if they are out in the garden. Do they eat all their pellets? If they do then there should be no need to keep them in.
chelsea
Mine are currently on their flubenvet week also no restriction on garden access here! (although it is pouring down so they aren't coming out anyway )
legend21
Mine are due to be wormed next week and I let them free range J
docsquid
Last time I measured out the correct quantity of food and mixed in the Flubenvet, then used this food to make their morning mash. They eat this all up regardless of whether they are FR or not later on in the day. I don't let them out until about 10.30 am so they have plenty of time to eat it all before being let out. Otherwise they FR all day.
Egluntyne
I would confine them to the run until mid afternoon and then let them out. Strictly speaking the only food they eat for the week should be the treated pellets, but in practice, I imagine that many don't adhere to this. Dolly
Thanks for all your replies, I think I'll keep them in until lunchtime then let them FR. By then they'll hopefully have filled up on the treated pellets and won't be too mad with me for ignoring the wailing to be let out all morning! Having said all that, it's snowing here now so they won't want to come out anyway!
beulah59
I double up the flubenvet in the feed so that they can free range and still get a good sized dose, since they go in and out to the feeders on and off all day ...
