AJuff
I would like to make two roman blinds for my bedroom and I am keen to get started. My curtain book shows pockets being made for dowelling at regular intervals. However i was inspecting my friend's new roman blind made by a local shop. It was made of three strips of fabric sewn together, it had only had two dowels at the bottom and the rings were sewn into the seams of the fabric strips. I'm a bit confused now as to which way is best. My pattern seems a bit tricky. Anyone have experience of making blinds or can recommend a clear pattern for a beginner blind maker? Charlottechicken
I think it would depend on your fabric and how picky you are about the pleats. If the fabric is thick maybe it would work. I once tried to make a Roman type blind for my bathroom out of a very flimsy underwater printed fabric. I got hold of tape with nylon loops instead of hooks and sewed these vertically on the fabric. Because of the fabric it looked more festoony than Roman
Chook n Boo Mum
I stitched narrow curtain tape horizontally across blackout fabric for the children's bedrooms & fed dowels through them....meant I had rows of tiny holes across the blind, but not a huge problem I thread the pull up cords through the loops in the tape.
