Seagazer
Have a great time. It would be lovely to go and see what its all about. Might have a chat with OH and see how much it is. Speaking about the war ("Ooops, word censored!"ody mention the war! ) we went to France last week and visited a couple of military cemetries. My Great Grandad is in a small one, I felt very emotional visiting and quite touchingly so did my YS. He even got some snow and cleared off the bird poo from the headstone. We then went on to Thiepval which is a really large monument with, I think I'm correct, the names of 72,000 men on it. They obviously have no graves. My gt gt uncle's name is on this memorial. He was only 20 when he died. It really makes you stop and think. My OH felt very emotional there. They have a museum and show a film about the Battle of the Somme. I can't find any details about my Gt Grandad's war records as his are part of the 'burnt records' that happened during WW2.
Ain't Nobody Here
I didn't even know there was such a thing . I bet it'll be fascinating . Hope you find out some good stuff . I recently found out I'm related to the professor who was head of the genetics unit that "made" Dolly the Sheep .
