LJ's Chooks
Hello everyone, So without a herd number (for cows) how do you get hold of ivomec eprinex???? My flubenvent is nearly out of date and I feel like I'm constantly treating one type of worm, mite or lice, and figure this could be the solution to go for as I understand it has preventative aswell as treatment properties????? Can anyone advise me please??? Thanks
Redwing
Eprinex sales are not dependant on a flock number and luckily its not a prescription only med either, you can buy it on line to avoid tricky questions I have to warn that it is not licenced for use on poultry and is a strong solution meant for cattle however I am sure you have checked all that out - because this is a public forum however I felt I needed to say that
LJ's Chooks
It seems like it is prescription only or herd number dependant even online... If anyone has bought it recently I would really appreciate hearing from you... If you would rather pm me than publicly say that's fine too... I just need to find out how to do it without buying a cow first! My vet seems to think xeno is the answer, but my little flock are proof that it doesn't kill all crawlies. Lastyear was a nightmare for mites and lice so I want to try and find a better preventative treatment.... The fact that it worms aswell is just great! ClaireG
I have used this http://www.regencypoultry.com/heathcare/redmite_and_Lice/harkamectin.htm It's ivomectin but not eprinex. * not licensed for use on poultry*. It's quite a small bottle though.
The Dogmother
I get it from my vet. Just Ivermectin on its own doesn't work on some mites, particularly Northern Fowl Mites (so my vet tells me). Which is why I went back to using Ivomec Eprinex (not licensed for use on poultry in the UK) aafter trying Xeno. Last year was truly terrible, so I'd recommend embarking on a prevention programme early if you can - my girls are due their quarterly dose next weekend. prof
i use ivermectin 0.5% which i bought of ebay for £4.99 and £1.99 postage with free postage on additional bottles. it comes in a dropper bottle (so really easy to apply) and you get 10mls. You apply 4 drops on their backs between the wings but according to the literature which comes with the stuff, you need to withdraw the eggs for 2 weeks. If you pm me i can tell you the name of the guy i got it from i must point out though.....ivermectin is not licensed for use on poultry in the uk.
