Smiler33
I've been using straw in the nest box for the girls. I help at a local Church once a fortnight and have been told I'm more than welcome to their shredded paper if I like - is it OK to use in the nest box? I pick the poo out each day and clean out the whole lot once a week (my favourite job ... not )! Many thanks.
Cooks
I use shredded paper as I see it as a good way to recycle again.. but beware is doesn't last long in the nestbox, not like Aubiose does, so you will be changing it ever couple of days. I dont use straw and never would as I read it wasn't great to use, plus it makes me sneeze

sandyhas3chucks
I found it gets wet and not nice. BUT my girls sleep in it, it is fine for just laying in!

Smiler33
My 4 all pile in together and sleep in the nest box, so I'll change it every other day as suggested. Thanks everyone for your input
Blackrocksrock
I line the nestbox with a sheet of paper first and then add the shredded stuff - easier to lift all out when changing as gets wet.

Same here We started with shredded paper and a little while dowwn the line we tried to switch to Allbed (can't get hemcore or similar here). Well my girls have a way of letting us know they are not amused. We had eggs laid everywhere else except the nestbox. Cleared it out after a day and went bag to shredded paper. Busybird
I have always used shredded paper in the nest box. It does need changing regularly but seems to suit the chooks fine
