Lorimer73
It is official I have had enough of or 3 year old chicken Evil Emma (white Amber) escaping, so after reading all of the threads I am building her a WIR. I have bought everything, made most of the panels and will put them up this weekend. Whoever ever said that Chickens are not intelligent needs to come and meet our Chicken Evil Emma, here is a selction of some of the things that she has done! Emma has obviously been watching "Chicken Run" so far she has managed to escape out of the garden and spent the whole day walking around our village, we lost her at about 10am, my upset OH located her at 5pm strolling down the footpath from the shop without a care in the world, he chased her along the footpath and did a rugby tackle on someones lawn to get her back. She has to wear a bumper bit all of the time or she attacks our other chickens, well she does that anyway but at least she can't do any damage with the bit on. We have tried putting omlet fencing up to keep her in but she get's through and when our labrador puppy put her head through the fence and got it stuck Emma attacked her, much to the horror of our neighbour a farmer who came rushing to help having never seen anything like it before. I have had to keep her in the Omlet run, as when I let her out to free range in the chicken section of the garden fenced of with omlet fencing on Monday night, she did the usual jumped on the Omlet run, hopped from the run to the garden fence, over a metre away, I have moved the run as far away from the fence as I can, (yes one of her wings is clipped) she then walks along the top of the fence and hops into the section of the garden that she is not allowed in. However on Monday she decided that our neighbour Ray's spring bulbs looked tasty so hopped in there instead and started to dig them up, good job he was in to lift up the fence panel and send her back through. Last year I put a frame up and covered the vegtable section in bird netting but she managed to get into that as well and ate all of the onions and garlic. I will take pictures of the run and put them up over the weekend!

I hope she lays eggs so isn't a freeloader as well . Good luck with the walk in run. You realise we need lots of before, during and after photos . Lorimer73
Here are a couple of picutres of Emma last year, hopefully this works as I have not done this before, one of her on the run (it is now further away from the fence) and one of her trying to work out how to get through the vegatable netting. Update on the run I have made 8 panels and have 4 panels left to make, I could not do much on Saturday as it was raining all day! Emma knew I was up to something in her garden and she started moaning loudly, WA WA WA, WA WA WA, so I put her on the front lawn in a pen I have made so she can eat the grass there. She also made this noise loudly every five mins for a week when we got three new chickens last year!
