Can i cope with a puppy?

Recommended Posts

Good point jomax- we got Metz from Battersea at 10 weeks old. She had been brought in by the people whose Samoyed had got accidentally impregnated by their neighbour's Collie. They brough the whole litter in and I had my pick as I was on the waiting list for a pup (I had young kids too) and was first in the door. She had been in the home for 3 days, still with us and chasing rabbits at the age of 13 8)

There are specific rescue organisations who deal with puppies, a Google search will find them.

Just to add, everyone always trots out the 'knowing a dogs history' thing, but the history is generally just ownership that was not thought through. I've met more nasty, snappy, badly behaved pedigree dogs owned from scratch than thoughfully selected rescues from properly run homes.

So have I

Choosing a dog, or contemplating dog ownership shouldn't be entered into lightly, and I'm glad that you're putting a lot of thought into it. Some dogs/puppies are easy and others are hard work.
