Does anybody on here keep Californian or Gambel quail?

 

I quite like their quiffy heads and colours but wondered about hatching requirements (as somebody on ebay stated that they have a much longer incubation period) and general habits (as I saw a Californian quail perching).

 

Anybody know anything about these sweeties?

I don't have any, but a friend does - their little crests are so

He used to have loads but cut his numbers down last year - all lived in heated sheds or an aviary

I think they're more suited to higer runs/aviaries rather than a hutch/lower run set-up because they like to perch

 

They take 23 days to hatch and I think you can hatch them dry or at lower humidity but not sure - I can find out if you're stuck
