Is there any point in weeding my borders?

Is there any point in weeding my borders?

In the area where my ex-batt girls will be free ranging, there is a long flower border with shrubs and clematis and geraniums and various perennials. There is a cover of bark chippings but lots of weeds and buttercups are starting to poke through.

Would I be wasting my time weeding, given that I fully expect the chickens to start footering about the beds? Will they do the weeding for me? :?

I see. Right. That'll be that, then!

Saved me some work. Thanks!

Goodness, I am getting quite nervous now. I am having visions of whirling-dervish- like fowl crazily burrowing and flinging dirt and devouring every green thing in sight , like vegetarian velociraptors.

My illusions are being slowly shattered - still, maybe it will be like giving birth! (In the sense that I was SO geared up for the worst, in the event it was a bit of a breeze!) :D

Donovaa - my neighbours already think I am a nutter - "that woman who is always in the garden and who has all those cats" ....

I think introductions are just like that - but in the sense that, it's really painful but your urge for more means you forget the pain and go ahead and do it again!

That's a pretty good description of chickens at work in the garden :)

Well, yes, they aren't vegetarian.

They managed to bully a woodpigeon into dropping some bread it picked up from my neighbour's garage roof, then spend 10 minutes stealing it off each other and running round the garden in a frenzy! They'll eat almost anything.

haha what I meant was - velociraptors wouldn't eat plant life.. :D

The chickens will have my cats to contend with if they want any mice! Archie one of my ginger boys (feline) is not well today - worried about him - trip to vets this afternoon :(
