ValerieR
Was wondering -are some breeds known for being noisier than others? Would love to hear what everyone thinks
quickcluck
hello there, I am not sure on an answer to that. I have a small flock of 14 and they all have their moments, mostly when egg announceing I've got a huge Maran called Maisie who honks like a goose and my newest 2 skylines are turning out to be very vocal They all have their own personalities so I think it's luck of the draw! Plum
Mine have all had their turn at being noisy. My newest two make a racket when eachother are laying so hope they are going to give it a rest as they get older. Only bothers me, neighbours aren't bothered. So they say as I hand them eggs
Egluntyne
I have a Fenton Blue and a Pekin Bantam who are both very noisy. I think it is the individual hen rather than the breed, and I have 3 of each of the above breeds, and the others don't make a fuss at all. jellykelly
MIne must be mute then!! I hardly hear anything out of mine. The dutch and the pekins make a little noise occassionally, but thats only when I walk out into the garden (i think). I can relax though and know that the neighbours will never have cause to complain!
ValerieR
Jellykelly a dutch is a bit like a serama isnt it? My new serama is silent apart from a bit of chirruping, same with the 2 pekin bantams except for one yelling episode last night when the cat scared her. Fingers crossed the silence continues! (Worried about certain of the neighbours) ... Val
