McChook
We awoke to lots of bokking from outside and looked out of the bedroom window to see what was going on - the girls were flapping and climbing on top of each other and making so much noise! No wonder, at the end of the garden was the biggest fox I've ever seen! We have 2 greyhounds and he was easily as big as our smallest one. Very luckily, either we got there in time or our week-old WIR was up to the task and none of the girls were harmed - I can't believe how scared I was at the thought of them being taken! We're used to the 'hens out/hounds in' approach around here as our dogs would love to eat our chickens, but to actually see a fox eyeing them up was not a good way to start the day for any of us! Trouble is, he knows they're here now and will be back...
Snowy
You are right, he will be back How scary!
Seagazer
It is scary and really makes you think about how safe your girls are. We often have visits from foxes in our garden, one day we had two at the same time. I'm sure your WIR is up to the job, try not to worry. ladyjulian
Ours are beginning to get used to the sight of foxes, and don't go quite so mad about it now (although there is still some squawking). I used Scoot on the area round the run and behind the shed - it's not as effective as the marketing says, because the foxes do still come round, but not quite so frequently and they've stopped socialising behind the shed. McChook
My LSH has been off work today and I left him with orders to only pee in a bottle today and 'scent' around the run and the perimeter of the garden - and bless him, he's done it For a man who said I was making a huge mistake getting chickens, he's quite on board these days
Mollie333
The fox will be back. But if your WIR is secure, relax. fox took 1 hen from me and attacked a 19 pound turkey hen. she is recovering great! running and trying to fly already!
