craftyhunnypie
I'm so looking forward to the end of the month. I've got Button my little black frizzle sat tight on 3 Millefleur eggs. I'm praying that these hatch - if they do, they should be called miracle, lucky & magic. These were the eggs that Dizzy was supposed to sit on & she abandoned them. We are not even sure if she sat on them properly enough to kick start them off. However, we rescued them & put them under a very good broody Button. She has been excellent - getting off the nest for food, water & to poo once a day - sometimes twice. She has been sat on them for a full 8 days now & not kicked them out, so fingers crossed - 10 days to go. I also have 6 Bantam Ancona eggs in the mini incys - candling Sunday / Monday night. I'm praying I get something there too. New eglu is due to arrive on Monday - so I need some chickies to hatch - to live in it when they are old enough. Omlet Power needed please! craftyhunnypie
Button looks like a little mop today. She's as flat as a pancake in her Lin bin nest box & because she's a frizzle pekin I can't see her head. She is going to be a good mummy. So exciting. Can't wait for Sunday night either, when I can candle the Ancona eggs in the incys. Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
Update! Button is still sat tight on her 3 Millefleur eggs. I'm hoping & praying these hatch. However, I candled the 6 bantam Ancona eggs last night. 4 were definite clears. One of them had a mass in - but it also had a dark spot. I have put back in & will candle again Wednesday - to see if any change. If no change, I will remove it. The final egg, we wer very unsure of. A dark mass seen, but no air sac. This is the first time ever, we have been so unsure on candling. I am so gutted & depressed today, it is untrue. I don't hold out much hope for these last 2 Ancona eggs. If I get no Millefleurs either then I'll be in a right stinky mood at weekend. My new came this morning & I may not have anything to fill it. Griffin
One of Nellys Wyandotte eggs had a dark blob in it last week when I candled but when I looked again on Friday the chicky inside is growing well and I couldn't see the blob. Those poor eggs had been messed about with so much in the early stages I wasn't holding out much hope for them but they're still going strong with just a week left to go so don't give up hope just yet. craftyhunnypie
Going to candle the Ancona eggs again when I go bed & make the final decision. There are only 2 left. We have set a chick cam up on Button, who is sat on her 3 Millefleur eggs. It's not a webcam, it's just like a baby monitor, but it's good & we can also watch her at night. We watched her come off the eggs for her fag break earlier. She's got her head tucked in now - bless her. She has been a very good broody, she's not made any mess in her nest at all & has looked after herself as regards food, water, pooing & preening. I can't remember if they are due Saturday or Sunday. Silly me! But hopefully by Monday we will have something. . Not forgetting the 5 little chicks I am collecting on Sunday to go in my brooder under the new electric hen. Woohoo! I think Button can feel something in her eggs now, as she keeps wiggling herself & adjusting her comfort, as well as looking at her eggs underneath her. Earlier she was chucking some bedding over her back - very sweet. Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
The Ancona eggs were all infertile apart from 1, which had only gone a few days &quitted. Button however, is sat on her 3 eggs as good as gold. She is very busy with them today. Not long now! Emma.x
Griffin
That's a shame about the Anconas. Mine lays lovely white eggs but is very very noisy so she's at my friends stud farm yelling her head off to her hearts content Really stunning birds. craftyhunnypie
Gosh isn't the waiting awful? I'm just hoping something will happen now. It's anytime from midday tomorrow that the Millefleurs are due. I bet it all starts whilst we are out on our Segways. Come on Button, you can do it!
