Janepie33
I have had a huge amount of something that looks like purple curly kale in my organic veg bag this week. I showed a piece to the chickens and they ran away! Only Tilly - brave 4 year old Omlet chicken decided to take a peck. Any ideas re curly kale recipes would be greatly appreciated. craftyhunnypie
Don't they use this shredded in Chinese restaurants & call it crispy seaweed? I think they fry it with oil & sugar - it's yummy. I think there will be a recipe on the internet somewhere for it. Emma.x

Emma.x I do exactly this with it, you have to have a wok with very very hot sesame oil, you finally shred the kale cook in the oil until its crispy but before it turns brown (try with a little bit first), and then toss it in about a tablespoon of caster sugar and a teaspoon of salt
chickencam
With green kale I wilt it in a little water and some butter and black pepper, a bit like spinach. You do have to tear it off the thick centre stalk to do this though, but it is very tasty.
ladyjulian
Cut the thickest part of the centre stalk out and chop it like cabbage, then (meaty version) fry a chopped onion, garlic & some bacon, then add the chopped kale & plenty of salt. (veggie version) fry a chopped onion, garlic, add the chopped kale and throw some capers in at the last minute. Both versions: fry until the kale is softened. If you make too much, it works well the next day as bubble & squeak, and also works well warmed up and used as a sandwich filling.
