Help with windows 7 email!

Recommended Posts

I am setting up a new laptop with windows 7. I tried to drag the email icon off the desktop onto the taskbar at the bottom and it deleted it! :wall: Anyone know where I can get it again? I've tried going on line to download it and it asks if I want to save the file. I click yes, but then nothing happens and I can't find where It is saved to! Gah!! This is so frustrating!:?

It wouldnt have deleted the whole program, go to My Computer (or computer) > C: > Program files

It should be in there somewhere, a warning may show up saying do not modify its contents, but dont worry about that.

When you find it, right click the program and click create shortcut, then put it back on your desktop.

is it a new install or an up grade

if it's an upgrade you'll need to reinstall outlook first then create the stort cut on tod desktop then drag and drop on to the task bar. outlook express doesn't work with windows 7

I upgraded to windows 7 a couple of months back from XP still have programs to re-install

It was already installed on a new laptop. I do have a disc to go back to XP though if I want to! I did manage to find it in the end - I had downloaded Windows Livemail but it was so well hidden I couldn't find it  Not as good as the adverts make it seem :?

Once I feel a bit more comfortable with it, I will probably change over. I've only just made a final commitment to Firefox after 2 years of umming and aahing about it!

While you are on Fred, any idea how I can transsfer saved emails from my old lappy to the new one? I did manage the new windows transfer thingie and it did all my other stuff, files and things (brilliant!) but it didn't do emails :?

When I changed mine I just forwarded the emails to myself from the old computer, making sure you just send them and not send and recieve :) . Then collect them on the new computer.
