phenna_family
Hi Everyone, We have had our new chickens for about 4 weeks now and since there arrival Nellie our pepperpot has stopped laying Our Bluebell Betty she started laying about a weeks ago and our Sussex Poppy started laying yesterday a huge egg weighed in at 71g and it was a double yoker. Has our pepperpot stopped laying because they have started laying? Will she ever lay again? She is eating and drinking and being her normal self like chasing the cat, but was worried she may be poorly with her not laying? I have now said laying quite alot do forgive me. Nellie is 3 years old and has always layed since we got her from omlet all them years ago. When the other girls lay she gets very excited and lets everyone including neighbours know that an egg has arrived, so why wont she produce a lovely egg Any suggestions would be great. Thanks! Redwing
Three years old is about the time that hybrids will slow down the laying sadly
phenna_family
She was laying before we got the new girls and then a few days later she just stopped, She has been as regular as clock work with one day off and now nothing Oh well if she has stopped laying thats not a problem I still love her the same eggs or no eggs, I was just worried about her incase she was ill, or maybe pining for her old mate who passed away 4 weeks ago. Mollie333
She is slowing down laying, she is 3 years old, afterall. Has our pepperpot stopped laying because they have started laying? no, i wouldnt think so. Will she ever lay again? probably but not as regular. She is eating and drinking and being her normal self like chasing the cat, but was worried she may be poorly with her not laying? thats good that shes being herself, but any change i would look into it a little bit more. she's probably just slowing down now. goodluck! kerryegg
After my Miss Pepperpot died I introduced 3 new hens. Ginger is still neck feather pulling the new 3 when the fancy takes her but her egg production has increased from 3 to 4 a week to an egg a day! She will be 3 in August, the new POLs laid on the first day. Hope yours bucks up again.
