Take part in study on PFAS 'forever chemicals' in eggs

After having an egg everyday from my new girls for 5 days (I think they were laying alternate days and they started the day after I brought them home) I have had nothing for a week. I expected Treacle to stop as she had antibiotics for 4 days but Honey has stopped too - is this normal in young chickens?

They can be a bit hit an miss in the early days.

 

Are they free ranging and laying in the garden?

 

Any signs of yolky patches in the bedding and bits of broken shell, which might suggest an egg eater?

They free range under supervision and I have checked around, no broken shell etc in nest. I kept them in their run for longer yesterday and there were no signs of egg laying that I could see. They are doing all the normal things so perhaps just getting into the swing of things

I think only one of mine is laying as I've had 5 "bantam" sized eggs and yesterday the egg was longer and bigger. I have had them 10 days and 6 eggs in all. I know I am lucky as some people have waitied weeks. I feel quite upset if theres no egg - I mean how sad is that - need to get out more I rush in from work and straight to Eglu for a peek. Quite childish really

I have the same problem, one of my pekin bantam hens was laying for the first 10 days or so after we got her but now we've not had anything for about two weeks. She seems healthy and happy, I've checked the garden and can't find any eggs and she isn't showing any signs of being broody.

 

The other two aren't old enough yet to lay so I'm having to buy my eggs from Tesco!

Glad it's not just me then and I really resent having to buy eggs
