salbo
Hi, I have had 3 chickens for just under 3 weeks now and enjoying every moment of it! I have a RHODE ROCK, COTSWOLD LEGBAR & a WHITE STAR! since day one I have had 1 brown egg and since the end of the first week had 2 brown eggs a day, except yesterday when we had a brown egg and a bluey greenish egg! so my question is: is the LEGBAR laying brown and bluey green eggs or have i got a white star that lays brown eggs???? would be grateful of any ideas. I have seen the white star quite a few times in the nest box!
Snowy
Oops, it does sound as though your whitestar is not such a pure whitestar after all!
sjp
the white star could be a Coral Nick they do look similar
salbo
Today we had 3 eggs, 2 brown and one bluey green! So the supposedly WHITE STAR is a brown egg layer! Anyone know what kind of chicken she could be instead? Edited April 22, 2010 by Guest

salbo
Hi, I have re named her AMBER! didn't have any White Stars left at Newland Poultry, so bought a CORAL who is so lovely! she should lay cream eggs!
Snowy
Corals lay a very pale cream egg and have the slightly lighter build than the Amber. That does look like an Amber to me, much more placid and friendly than a whitestar
