angel 0406 Posted April 29, 2010 Share Posted April 29, 2010 hi i moved pinky my black silkie last night into her broody pen, she has been sitting for 5 days now she was there all night when i opened the door today she darted out and shouted at me for ages she was not happy she has sat on the ground in protest and did not return to her golf balls the minitue i opend the run she went back into her original house with the other girls and straight to her nest and has sat there all day ,it is not sutible to hatch eggs there as its off the ground and the others are there,i cant section her off either but she just want sit in the broody pen and i have eggs waiting to set i do have an inccy but wanted her to do the work this time as last time she went broody she did the same thing i moved her and she would not sit in there but went straight back to the other nest and sat tight what shall i do she just want to stay where she feels safe the broody pen just dosent do it for her like her old nest dose help! Jools Posted April 29, 2010 Share Posted April 29, 2010 I would have agreed with Griffin, but ........ one of my Silver Sussex bantams was not giving in, despite being shut in the sin bin a couple of weeks ago. Every time I parolled her, she was straight back in their main house, pancaked to the nest, grumbling and complaining like mad. So I relented, set up the broody ark for the first time this year, started saving some eggs and moved her to sit on a couple of spares. Instant cure for broodiness! Contrary madam. eve Posted May 2, 2010 Share Posted May 2, 2010 took me three days when i moved my broody. had to putt a ld on my pen in shed as every time i opened the door she was out back to main coop.its worked and now sitting 8 eggs hope to hatch out 21 may its my first time hatching.dont fancy candling so just going to wait and see what i get..
