I answered the phone today and there was silence at the end of the line. I dialed 1471 to see who had called me and the voice said " The number of the last person to call you is... 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0".

 

As it was such an odd number, I didn't call it back in case it was some sort of scam.

 

Has anyone else had a call from this number?

Seems lots of people have had the same number ring them, and it could be one of many different companies.

companies can programme their switches with any CLI (calling line identity) number they want. Could have been anyone calling you, but obviously someone who doesn't want you to phone back. It's possible it was a dialler, they're programmed to basically go thru the phone book and log the details of anyone who answers the phone at a certain time. That way, the sales people know the time of day you're most likely to answer the phone. Get yourself registered with the telephone preference service which should stop 99% of sales calls.

I know 01234 is bedfordshire somewhere

 

my problem is I used to avoid international calls as they tend to be selling but now my parents live abroad theirs comes through as international so I cant ignore them all anymore

If you register with the fax preference service as well, you reduce the chance of getting fax machines randomly calling too
