daj198
We lost Heidi to a fox yesterday and so poor Maddy is left on her own. I'm hoping to get more hens tomorrow but I'm concerned about transporting them... we have one cat carrier and that's only really big enough for one chook (we hope to get four). I don't suppose there's anyone local who I could borrow a poultry crate from? Thanks
Cooks
a box like a crisp box will be fine with air holes in it I have had two chicken transported in my cat carrier no problem, so if you could borrow another cat carrier you could use those. Space Chick
When I got my ex batts they were transporting 5 in a cat carrier I have personally managed 3 hybrids in a cat carrier, although I have had 4 girls choosing to sleep in one for about a week Don't ask
Helly Welly
I don't know how far you'll be transporting them but we put two chooks per cat carrier, depending on the size you could fit more. If it's only a short distance it won't do them any harm and i always think that they'll prop each other up when going round corners
txswanie
get those cardboard cat/dog boxes from a petshop. A big one will hold 2 chooks.
jennydavies
We brought ours home in one of those cardboard boxes you get from a Big Yellow Box storage facility. They normally have a shop in there to buy boxes, bubble wrap, sticky tape etc. We cut airholes in it and they were very comfy in the back of the jeep, never had a murmer from them on the way home. daj198
Five in a cat carrier?! They must have been a lot larger than my cat carrier!
