Mind you, for all my grave assertions that I wouldn't be free-ranging them all that much, and would definitely be keeping them out of my beautiful borders, they spend a large amount of their time pootling round the garden, so they owe me an egg soon - otherwise I'll be leaving the chicken Bisto packet strategically positioned outside their run until they take the hint!
