Tom and Barbara
As it seems like there are a few other knit freaks out there I was wondering if any of you would fancy taking part in a charity knit for Help the Aged/ Breast Cancer? I'm a Breast Cancer Ambassador for Cancer Research UK and through my local Stitch 'n' "Ooops, word censored!" Group I've organised a sponsored pink knit to raise money for Help the Aged during national knitting week 10-16 Oct then we're going to auction off the finished items the following week with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer........any of you fancy knitting something pink and donating? anything will do as long as there's much pinkness
red
That's a good idea - our local hospice in N Devon is also doing a worlds biggest knitted xmas tree fundraiser
Trish
Count me in. If you pm me your address I'll getb something on the needles. If you fancy I'll mention it to My Stitch 2n2 "Ooops, word censored!" group and to my Rowan group too. If only a couple of people join in it will give you lots to auction. No knitted chicken thongs though
Cate in NZ
Sorry I can't knit to save my life. Pretty good on the dropped stitches tho' I'm so glad to hear the knitted thongs are off the menu Worthy cause though, I'm fully in support of breast cancer charities though, it's a massive problem, figures range from 1:9- 1:11 women will develop breast cancer in their lives, and approx 1:100 men. Kylie Minogue, bizarrely, has done us all a favour by proving that relatively young women with apparently everything going for them are still vulnerable. Good luck to you all Oh, and check yourselves, regardless of age or sex, once a month, nothing complicated, just look & feel for changes, lumps, bumps, changes in size or skin texture or newly inverted nipples. Often it's nothing, benign changes, PMT or pregnancy, but...... just be aware
Tom and Barbara
thanks guys..........I'm curious red, how does the biggest knitted xmas tree work???!? fab, thanks so much Trish anything would be very gratefully received! we've been contacting local yarn suppliers to see if they can donate material for us to create with....so far only Debbie Bliss has offered to help out but it may be worth a go in your area if a couple of people are interested? I'm making some scoobie keyrings at the moment in the shape of the Breast Cancer ribbon and I'm making a boobie scarf from Knitty's Breast Cancer special patterns.......haven't quite got the hang of the optional nipples yet...... Tom and Barbara
...I kid you not .....you can put nipples on the boobies, but they are optional.........I WANT to add nipples cos at the moment I just have bulges in the scarf not boobies...... Popcorn
Padded T-shirt bras girls - great invention. Would love a phohot of the nippled scarf I love knitting and I've regulary got something on the go. I've just knitted a pink self stripped cardigan for my firends little girl, which worked out great. I take it can do something simple like a hat and a pait of gloves? I'm not brilliant at complicated things just yet!
Tom and Barbara
aaaah i wouldn't be without my padded t-shirt bra anything would be appreciated - something quick and easy - absolutely anything s'long as its pink!!! basic wooly hats will sell well with the winter coming up I would've thought knitty did a special edition with Breast Cancer patterns including the boobie scarf - if anyone wants a copy i'll pm it to them - its 9 pages long. AnnieJ
I'd love a copy please. Do I have to knit the wooly hat - the boobie scarf sounds much more exciting!
Mel (& Paul)
I LOVE this forum - from knitting to nipples in one fell swoop
Tom and Barbara
its official - its not just my boobs that are having gravity problems - other people who have knitted the scarf have also found their boobs drop off to the left if anyone tries this one i think its a case of just stick boobs where you feel like it, not where the pattern tells you to.... Mrs Frugal
I think "knitting" in the topic title has put him off the scent!! If you'd called it scarves with nipples or something like that, he'd have been here like a shot !
Mel (& Paul)
Go on Kate, change the title and see how quick he responds
Lesley
I was going to change it to Optional Nipples just for the heck of it to see how long before Dan arrived but it's 'Tom and Barbara's' topic so I hadn't better

Lesley
OK - I'll wait until I see he's around and then change it temporarily! He might be a knitter and join in (As long as I write down it's original title or else I will forget it!)
