Our new arrivals!

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all those who gave advice and information over the last few weeks. Today our (cube green) finally has some occupants.

One of my cats has certainly taken a keen interest....

Anyway - here they are:

Left is Gertie and right is Ethel. The white one above is Inge (after the mother-in-law - she's taken it with good humour  )

The Speckledy one is Jean (after my mum - figured it wasn't fair to just pick on the in-laws) and the front head is Ken (why did we think it was a good idea for our son to be given freedom to pick a name...?)

Sorry for the pic size - I followed the tips on uploading pics but couldn't manage that bit. :wall:

Help!

Thanks

Ps Went out at 8 to try and put them to bed and they'd already gone

Thanks, Ann - I see you have a Dave cat too

Is that your Dave on the top of the cube? I have a very similar photo when I got my cube 2 years ago with Dave having a little look in at the girls. I notice you have a Fake Dave as well in your signature, whats the story behind that?

Yep, that's the 'real' Dave on the cube. Fake Dave adopted us 18 months ago: we would come home from work, stroke 'Dave' who would be asleep on the sofa, and realise it wasn't him. It was a scrawny, flea-ridden thing who looked just like our Dave. We shooed him out but invariably he would return. This went on for a month or so - he had no collar and no microchip. Our vet suggested taking him to the RSPCA but we couldn't face it - he was such a sorry looking thing, the other cats didn't mind about him and he had started to grow on us.

After de-fleaing, worming and neutering him he soon perked up. We'd thought about renaming him but we'd refered to him as Fake Dave for so long it just stuck. :) For ages we'd have to look carefully to tell who was Fake and who was Dave (the only real difference was Fake had a brown-ish nose) but there's no mistaking them now - Fake has settled into domestic bliss and gone from a 3kg skinny thing to a 6.8kg beast with the most gorgeous personality.

Ps Whilst Dave has decided the chickens will be his supper one day, Fake is terrified!

Oh bless, what a lovely story. My SIL has adopted a cat who had adopted them so to speak :D

My Dave ignores them most of the time now apart from if he's feeling a bit frisky, then he tries to pounce on them but they are noisy enough and flappy enough to scare him. :D
