Cube with 2m run - how many chooks ? UPDATE

Recommended Posts

I currently have 6 girls in my cube who spend at least 5 hours fring a day (more if it is sunny as I supervise them). I am getting 2 columbines in a couple of weeks and have an eglu and run to introduce them, however I really need to sell this afterwards to fund the cube  Will 8 be too many in the 2m cube run? If so is it easy to fit another run extension?

Thanks in advance :D

I ordered the extension on Monday and it came today - very good service  We now have a Super (cube red) it was easy to put up and definately needed the 2p coin  My fingers are sore from squeezing the clips together though.

When you squeeze them together, don't squeeze the sticking out grips but the widest part of the clip and they go together easily :D

I have a 5m cube train that usually houses 8 bantams (three are broody in the eglu and arks at the moment - chicks due soon :D ) and they free range part time. I would recommend investing in support arches, but the extensions are easy to put up! You may find 8 birds are a little tight on space in 3m though, you could try adding some extra levels, I also have a perch table made from old roosting bars and branches, they seem to have enough room. Regarding the clips I use cable ties they are brill!
